The Power Surge!
Paige. Coleman

U mm!” “I don’t know?” I was at rainbows end with Tayla, we were there for Tayla’s little sister (Natisha’s) birthday party. “Come on! Do it!” Tayla kept saying, she was trying to get me to come on the Power Surge with her. Finally after egging me on for about 5 minutes, I gave in. I was eager but anxious at the same time, thoughts whirling round my head, do I back out now or go on? Yes, no, yes, no, yes I will go on. The line slowly filed out of the waiting area. Then I see It, a spotless, large ride. Butterflies were taking over inside of me. Cautiously, I sat down next to Tayla ready for anything. Breathing heavily, I blame Tayla for going on this threatening ride. I felt like a cat next to a dog.

“Tayla!” I said in a worrying voice. Looking around I frantically ask the controller “how long is the ride?” “3 minutes he says casually”. My palms were sweaty all I could feel was the metal harness around me I could smell and hear and taste the fresh air whipping past my face, I could see the controller turning on the system. I felt enthusiastic but very frightened. Defiantly I overcame my fear pulled myself together and prayed to God that I would live. It was the time to be courageous. Whoosh! “Ahh” I yelled we were going up…

“OH MY!” I screamed. The sky looked like it was moving We were spinning around and around, upside down, backwards, Forward, All again, and again, and again. And we stopped? Lowered down and the ride was done. I felt relieved, Cheerful but most of all frighteningly fantastic. Clumsily, I jumped up, off my seat Tayla right behind me. Laughing I walk away saying “this is a chicken ride!”

Walking away from the ride I thought what was I so afraid of, it was fine. Although I was a little dizzy for a while but I felt mostly calm and joyful. Next time that will be the first ride I go on!

The Best Holiday Ever!

The Best Holiday Ever!

On the first Monday of the holidays, my Mum, had a baby boy called Rex. At first the  family thought the world had turned upside down.

When Granny, Grandad, Quinn, Cleo and I first saw Rex, we thought we were going to scream or heads off. As soon as we saw Rex, I said, '' He is so cute, can I hold him Mum?'' Mum said, when we get home you can. After us being at the hospital for about 5 minutes, the midwife weighed Rex, he was the biggest, he weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces.  We gave Rex his first hotwheels car for a birth present. After that Ganny, Grandad, Quinn, Cleo and I went home. We were at home for 5 or 6 hours maybe half an hour more, it wasn't that long after we came home that Mum, Dad and Rex came home.

When Mum, Dad and Rex came home I said, ''Now, can I hold him now Mum!" Mum said, ''Yes, you can hold him."  So about 5 seconds later, I was holding my new and only baby brother. Soon after, Rex got feed and got put into bed. When we had done that, we all celebrated and had a nice cooked dinner with champagne for Mum, Dad, Granny and Grandad and a soft drink for Quinn, Cleo and I . When we had done that we had a really! chocolaty desert, I couldn't eat some of it. Then we went to bed, I said to myself it was quite a day, but I was so tired I fell alseep half way through it.

So Rex joined the Coleman family, happily.

The End.

Port Waikato

On Friday my family and I went to Port Waikato for the weekend.
First we went up the stairs to the house.
When we got to the house, Mum and Dad said, "WOW!"
The day after, we went down to the beach for a swim. The sand was warm, soft and black but the water was cool, wavy and green.
Finally, it was the last day. We went down to the beach but, this time, we slid down the sand cliff.
When we were on the beach, we kept climbing up the cliff and sliding back down.
I though Port Waikato was cool and fun.

Animal Day

On St Paul’s Pet Day the children brought their pets to school.
After playtime, it was the Animal Parade. First the fluffy bunnies, possum, chickens, mice and budgies went round the court to show off. Some of the animals were running and walking round the court, like the goat, while some of them were in cages.
Next the dogs arrived. My dog was called Wallace.  When Mum arrived, my dark brindle black dog, Wallace, gave me a hi-five while walking slowly with his hips going side to side. Wallace had his tongue hanging out of his mouth because he was warm. “It’s time for the dog parade,” I said. The small dogs went round the court twice. When Wallace was walking round, he sat on some people.
Finally, it was the tricks. There were some talented dogs doing their tricks. It was really noisy when all the dogs big and small were doing their tricks.
When I got home from school I was really tired.

Go, Paige! Yea!

When I was 8 years old, our school had an Athletics Day. We all competed in lots of events, like High Jump, Long Jump, Vortex, Shot Put, Discus and Sprints. It was a warm sunny day. We ran to the courts where all the crunchy yellow leaves were. When all the coloured houses were sitting, they waved their flags on the green tiger-turf courts. Mr K said, "March round the field,’’ so St Ann, the Yellow house, went first, then St Anthony, the Blue house, St Francis, the Green house and St Joseph, the Red House. I was feeling nervous and excited about competing in athletics.

Next, my age group did high jump. We had to jump over the white rod onto the blue mat. Some of us jumped as high as a flying hawk. When I got over, I always said, “Yes I did it!’’ In high jump, Emily G came 1st, I came 2nd and Emily W came 3rd. I was glad I at least came a place.
Finally, we did sprints. There were three starting lines that were on the five green narrow lines 50m, 80m and 100m, but there was only one finish line. Emily W came 1st in the 50, 80 and 100 m races, Emily G came 2nd in the 50, 80 and 100 m races and I came third in the 50, 80 and 100 m races. We, who came first, second and third, are as fast as lightning. When I got a place, I felt that I had done well.

It was a fun day, but I was very tired when I got home from school that afternoon.

King Arthur's Castle

Mrs Death read us the story of King Arthur, then we used three different pieces of paper and combined them to show what his castle looked like.
